When you sign in

ChatGPT handles sign-in. Marginalist receives an account ID, email address and display name so it can recognise you and show your account. We save your chosen exam board, qualification and year group against that account ID. We do not store your email address in the course database.

Your study records

When signed in, your course, bookmarks, reviewed activities, participation points and study days are saved against your account ID. Study logs include times, topics, notes, methods, next steps and optional review dates. These records sync across devices. Existing browser records are imported into the matching signed-in account. You can delete individual study sessions in the study log. Guest progress stays on the current device. AQA chapter answers are saved in this browser tab’s session storage so they survive a refresh; they are not synced to your account and are removed when the tab session ends. Other practice answers stay on the open page.

Study with ChatGPT

Marginalist builds study instructions in your browser using your saved course, selected topic and optional study request. They are copied to your clipboard only when you press Copy. Opening ChatGPT does not send the instructions; you choose whether to paste and send them in your own conversation.

That conversation is handled by ChatGPT under its own privacy policy and account settings. Marginalist does not receive or save those messages, replies or marks, and does not make AI-provider requests through this feature. Signing in to Marginalist does not give it access to your ChatGPT conversations. If you choose to record the session in your study log, the information you enter is saved as a study record.

How we use and keep it

We use your course choice to tailor examples and exam practice. We do not sell account or study data or use it for advertising. Your account records stay until you request deletion or the service closes. Individual study sessions can be deleted in the log. We keep minimal record identifiers to prevent deleted sessions being re-imported from an old browser; these do not contain your session notes. The hosting and sign-in services also process information needed to run and secure the site, such as authentication and request logs, under their own policies. Following a publisher link takes you to that publisher’s site and privacy policy.

Your choices

You can change your course in Settings. For a copy or deletion of your account records, or any privacy question, email alex.s.c.caunter@gmail.com. Clearing browser data removes guest progress and local caches; it does not delete your saved account records. If you have a data protection concern, you can contact the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
